The biggest lakes are, Lauwerszee, Fluessen, Slotermeer, Sneekermeer and Pikmeer. It’s a breathtaking journey to go by boat from village to village. After a day travelling on the lakes and channels where people greet each other during passing and crossing bridges, you can rest on the cosy terraces in the small villages. Sleeping on the boat is a must to breathe the friendly atmosphere in this special part of the Netherlands. We strongly recommend to do this once in your life.
